falling in love…again
Today, as I was thanking God for him, I realized that I love my husband for different reasons than I initially did. I think, as a young woman, I fell in love with the way he loved me. We all know how that works: guy pursues girl; girl is enamored by his attention and affection; girl decides she loves him too! This is probably what happened in that young heart of mine! Of course, in our years of getting to know one another, I found many wonderful traits about him that I loved.
In this season of falling in love again with my husband, I am especially thrilled with his passion for the Lord, his love of God’s Word and his love for people. Jon is the spiritual man that I have prayed for him to be and believed God to develop.
As I speak with other women who long for their husbands to fulfill their call of spiritual headship in their homes, I am reminded of this truth: “A wife of noble character is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life” (Proverbs 31:10-12).
So, wives, we have a positive impact to make on our husbands. The most penetrating words in the passage above are, her husband has full confidence in her. What is that going to take to be true in our marriages? As we rise to that level of faithfulness, he ,too, is promoted in the goodness of God (Proverbs 31:23).
