money peace

Money peace.  It almost seems contradictory to use the words together, doesn’t it?  However, the Lord desires today to convey His peace concerning our finances.

In my 20+ years of walking with the Lord, He has shown me His complete faithfulness in all areas of my life.  I know Him to not only be the God who provides for my needs but also the God who abundantly supplies.  He is gracious in all ways.  I think He just gets a kick out of surprising us with the most wonderful of gifts!  For instance, when I became a stay-at-home mom, I wondered if the extra money would ever be there for our family to travel.  In the same month that our household income was cut by more than half, we won an all-expense paid trip to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.  I promise you, I received that blessing from the Lord!  It was glorious!  And it was His way of saying, “Not only will I meet your needs, Renee.  I will even grant you the desires of your heart.”

Thank you, Father.  I delight myself in You, for You are good.

Hebrews 13:5-6 makes an interesting point:  “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’  So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?'”

Notice that our being content with what we have is not based on our financial status; it’s based on God and His faithfulness.  We rest in the Lord’s ability to provide, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Does that do something to you?  I mean, if we have thought all along that financial safety comes from being born rich, working a great-paying job or having an ideal investment plan, God says clearly, “None of that matters.  Your money peace is found in Me and my promise to be with you.”

The standards of wealth are relative to the places where people live in the world.  I read the following statement years ago, and it has stayed with me:  If you own a book and actually know how to read it, you are rich in comparison with  most in this world.

I am thankful that I own and read one book in particular.  The Bible reveals God’s love and His promises to me.  I can experience peace in every circumstance because He has made known to me His faithfulness.  In relation to financial peace, I recommend reading Matthew 6: 19-34.  Within these verses we find God’s invitation to the lifestyle of ultimate riches- peace found in being free from worry about money!
