who are you listening to?
Oh, I get so frustrated with myself! Why is it after-the-fact that I learn this lesson? What may be okay for one Christian family is not necessarily okay for another. There, I said it!
In the Beamer home, we have dealt with the conscience-stricken consequences after making peer-influenced decisions regarding media and other involvements. However, on this side of the experiences, we now have a stronger desire to walk more resolutely in the way that the Father in heaven leads us.
God is relational. He assures us of His presence and His faithful counsel in the way of truth. His peace is the confidence we need in order to know we hear and follow Him accurately.
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
Maybe, like me, you recognize times in your life when you have been more influenced by a friend than by the Holy Spirit’s leading. You may ask, “Is God impatient with my failure to hear Him? Does He give up on me?”
Hardly! According to Psalm 23, His goodness and mercy chases us down. He is patient with you, and He’s patient with me.
So thankful today for the gentle heart of my heavenly Father. Now, to be more trusting of the gentle leading of His voice…
