do these few simple things
Turn on the news and you will hear much dialogue about the increasing levels of youth violence in our nation and the link between unsupervised children and crime. We are in a crisis in America because our families are in a state of disarray.
Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Hebrews 12:9
Does this break your heart? Our country once celebrated for everything good and promising now cannot seem to manage the smallest arena of government- the American household.
I am not here to point fingers. I will not draw the line between “good families” and “bad families.” Division is not the solution to our nation’s rebuilding upon a foundation of strong moral values. When the prophet Jeremiah wept over the sins of his people, he counted himself among the rebellious Israelites when he prayed, “O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness and the guilt of our fathers; we have indeed sinned against you.”
What can you and I do to stand in the gap and prevent further decay as well as promote restoration of our culture? There are a few important things to do on a daily basis:
1. Keep watch over our own marriages and families. There is an enemy who seeks to destroy both because of the easy access gained to the soul as a result. Stay vigilant! Protect your heart, protect your marriage, and protect your children! Do not forsake the wisdom of heaven found in daily reading of the Holy Bible. Prosperous living in every sense of the word “prosperity” is the result for all who follow Jesus by keeping His Word (See Psalm 1:1-3).
2. Pray. God’s ears are attentive to our prayers, and when we, His people, cry out to Him, He will hear our prayers and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
3. Share the love of Jesus. People everywhere are hurting and have no idea that God sent Jesus to bind up the brokenhearted. When the lost are found and their broken lives are rebuilt through the love of Christ, they will produce whole families as a result. Can you believe for renewal for the next generation? Will you spend your life making sure that you never miss an opportunity to extend the grace of God?
Let’s keep watch, America! Let’s begin praying like we never have before. Let’s bring the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world. Let’s see with eyes of faith a better day ahead in this beautiful land.
