what’s been your test of late?
Troubles. We all have them. Some may feel they experience more than their fair share, but no matter what measure of difficulties we face, there’s no escaping the fact that in this life we will endure hardship.
What’s been your test of late? Are you having difficulty in your relationship with a loved one? Are you financially strapped and wondering if there will be a change? Is your health unstable? Are you in a conflict with someone at work? Is the call to ministry not panning out the way you had hoped?
Allow the Word of God to speak confidence to your heart and mind:
Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life (James 1:12, The Message Bible).
I read this scripture today, and my soul responded, “Ahhhh!” Such assurance! God sees and knows it is at times very hard to press on, yet the Word promises us His great reward if we endure! And, what grabs me most about the promise is the blessing of “more life.” This is the answer to my prayer! I have been asking Jesus for more of Him, and today God speaks and says, “You have the desired increase because you persevered!”
I knew the test of this past year was one permitted by the Refiner. My character was refined with fire, and it hurt! I asked the Father if two months was long enough, but it wasn’t. Five months later, I simply said, “Father, until the work is done…”
Recently, a friend said to me, “It’s good to see you happy again.” Wow. I never realized how visibly I wore the struggle. Nevertheless, I do sense the release and the arrival to the other side. I can honestly say that the prescription was prayer and lots of it, daily intake of the Word, and praising the Father for His unchanging nature!
If you are in the midst of a trial, please do not give up! I know there are tempting thoughts of bailing out. Escapism is something we do quite naturally. But, for those who are “loyally in love with God,” let’s live supernaturally and see this thing through. God’s great reward is waiting at the finish line.
