three mug toast to cinnamon gingerbread
I finally opened the bag of cinnamon gingerbread flavored coffee, and its fragrance filled the air! Jake, Jordan and I had a mug full of the piping hot deliciousness and loved it. Jordan said, “It tastes like Starbucks!” (That’s a positive critique in our book.)
She then promptly reminded me that we have a plan to visit Starbucks first thing Christmas morning. I know, it seems crazy that they’re open for business. Starbucks and the U.S. military never abandon post!
This morning I have a scripture to share that breathes God’s rest upon our hearts and minds.
The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace (Psalm 29:11).
In this season of remembering God’s love for us, we celebrate Jesus’ departing heaven, putting on the limitations of humanity, and coming to earth. Why did He have to come, you ask? Because we are a people in need. We are completely powerless when it comes to making our hearts good. Without Jesus, we are on a course of self-destruction.
Do you want to see a person completely lose it? (I hope you say no!) Take someone who delights himself in keeping his life neatly in control and throw in a situation beyond his ability to fix. He comes to the end of himself and is undone. HOWEVER, when that same person puts his faith in the all-powerful and all-knowing God of the universe, he miraculously is able to abide in the rest of God. It’s true! “The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.”
