how we influence a nation for God
Summer 2009- The Father in heaven broke my heart for the nation. I found myself on my knees repenting for our waywardness of heart. America increasingly turns her back on God, and I am broken because of it. I had no idea at the time that my response would lead to a Marriage Building ministry.
God has shown me that marriage is the beginning place to reestablish order in the land. Just as He established the rule of the earth through Adam and Eve, God still has His eye upon husbands and wives to see if they can be found faithful to the call of seeing His kingdom expanded upon the earth as it is in heaven.
It is through God-honoring marriages as described in Ephesians 5:22-33 that healthy and faithful families are built. It is through these God-honoring families that cities of righteousness are established. My eye is daily attracted to the attention God gives cities in His Word.
“Through the blessing of the upright, a city is exalted” (Proverbs 11:11).
God desires cities marked by His glorious name. I have seen this again and again in Scripture. (See references below.) I continue to see His Spirit burden the hearts of His people for their cities today.
Study the simple diagram below and notice its progression. Is God’s righteousness firmly established in your marriage and home? If not, focus your efforts there. Do so through your own discipleship and the training of your family in the ways of the Lord. Once you have those building blocks in place, turn your eyes toward your city. Begin to pray for influence over her to see marriages and households established by the love and truth of God. Call for God’s righteousness to be upon the hearts and minds of husbands and wives and single parents. Pray for parents to train up children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. See your city through the eyes of God and pray with His jealous passion for her full devotion.
O, that our cities would be exalted places where the upright live! Then we will see America restored to one nation under God.
