Jesus awareness (Part 2)
I concluded my last post with the words, I promote His Word,” and it’s true! There is so much life in the Word of God, and I don’t want you to miss it!
The Word is powerful, but it often is overlooked. The truths we so desperately seek are revealed to us in His written Word. Trust me, the enemy of your soul longs to blind you from the truth. He enacts every scheme he knows to keep your busy little hands from opening the Bible.
For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
Sharper. Sharper = more sharp. It’s better. The Word of God is better than a weapon for war, and it’s better than a surgical knife.
Think about what happened on the night of Jesus’ betrayal. Peter drew a sword to fight off those who came to arrest his Lord, but Jesus told him to put it away. Why? Because the Word is sharper! Had Jesus not been appointed to die as a result of the arrest, He said He would have asked His Father in heaven, and 78,000 angels would have come to His defense.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways (Psalm 91:11).
Are you understanding why the Word of God is sharper… better? Would you prefer one sword in your scared hands or tens of thousands of angels standing between you and the threat of death?
The Word of God is designed to have access to the deepest parts of our being. It penetrates to dividing soul and spirit… Does that make sense?
Your soul (your mind, will and emotions) can direct your path as you respond to the thoughts, selfish desires and feelings that seem so real. Think about it: I can lie awake at night in fear and with a handgun close to me, because I fear someone is going to break into my house. The feeling of fear is real. The tension keeping me awake is real. The person I imagine to be outside is not.
The Word of God is alive to direct my path according to the Spirit. The Spirit gives life, not fear. The spirit is separated out from feelings when the better surgical practice of the Word of God is administered, and the ruling voice is, “Peace! I protect you under the shelter of My wing when you hide yourself in Me. For I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Thank You, Father, for the division between my soul and my spirit. I was believing the feelings I had until You came and spoke truth through Your Word. Forgive me for not trusting You to be who You say You are to me. Increase my faith even now as I deposit truth into my being. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
