100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 6
You Are a Bearer of the Kingdom of God (Luke 17:21).
Your identity as one who bears the kingdom of heaven is worthy of serious attention. You have the potential to bring heavenly realities to the earth, but if you look around at the Church in the western world, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done,” may not be the most evident expression of her adherents. Let’s be the generation that changes the Church’s testimony! Let’s make it clear that we only do what we see our Father doing, and we merely speak what we hear our Father speaking! What is it going to take to produce such a testimony? A holy fire!
Jesus came to His cousin, John, to be baptized, and as soon as He came up out of the water, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him and remained on Him (See Matthew 3:13-17). From that moment on, Jesus was a Spirit-led servant of God. The Spirit of God led Him into the desert for a time of prayer and fasting. Upon the Holy Spirit indicating the completion of the fast, Jesus began His public ministry, a ministry empowered by the Spirit. “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people” (Matthew 4:23).
The kingdom of heaven expresses itself (Isaiah 61:1-3).
The Lord proclaimed the reality of the kingdom of heaven when He stood before His Jewish community on a certain Sabbath and read Isaiah 61:1-3, declaring it is now fulfilled.
The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (Luke 4:18-19).
“The heavenly realities our Lord declared are expected ministry of God’s Son,” you say, “but what does the Isaiah prophecy now fulfilled in Jesus have to do with me?”
The Spirit of the Lord has anointed you.
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name so that the Son may bring glory to the Father… And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth… On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and You are in Me, and I am in you (John 14:12-13, 16-17, 20).
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2).
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead… (Ephesians 1:18-20).
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority (Colossians 2:9-10).
Child of God, you are more than you know. You bear the kingdom of heaven. The reality of praying and receiving “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” is possible because there is one Holy Spirit, and He anoints you to:
- preach the good news
- proclaim freedom for the prisoners
- secure recovery of sight for the blind
- release the oppressed
- proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Walk It Out (Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21).
Ask your good Father in heaven for the gift of the Holy Spirit (See Luke 11:11-13).
