100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 13
You Are Chosen (John 15:16)
I walk along the sandy shoreline looking for a treasure. If you’re picturing bermuda shorts, t-shirt, baseball cap and the clicking sound of a metal detector, you’re almost right. Take away the device and you see me- head down and searching the tide’s latest deposits. What’s the treasure, you ask? Sea glass. I’m not sure the source of my fascination with broken and tumbled glass, but I receive each piece like it’s been set-aside for me. Once washed, I add the sea glass to my multi-colored collection and view it as a thing of beauty.
Do you know, Child of God, you are chosen? In the same way that Jesus walked the shores of Galilee and handpicked those whom God had set aside for kingdom purposes, so He comes alongside of you and says, “Follow Me.”
Have you heard the Holy Spirit whisper to your heart, “I know you and I have chosen you to know Me?” Does that seem like a foreign concept to you? How does the Spirit of Christ speak? He may come in a vision or a dream. You may hear Him drawing you through a song, a pastor, a radio or a television program. Perhaps you remember a teacher who looked you in the eyes and showed you compassion… Did you wonder what caused her to take notice of you? How was she reading your downcast soul so well when you tried with everything in you to hide your pain? God was drawing you to Himself through an earthen vessel.
Child of God, that is the very reason Creator God has chosen you! “… That you might go and bear fruit- fruit that will last” (John 15:16).
You have purpose.
Washed up. Broken. Battered by life’s storms. Still, Jesus chooses you like a beach scavenger chooses a piece of sea glass awaiting its selection and purpose. He picks you up, washes you clean, and assigns you purpose in His beautiful body- the faithful believers in the earth.
Go forth, chosen one, and bear fruit- fruit that will last. You are Christ’s earthen vessel, and you continue to shed His love upon others so that they, in turn, may hear His Spirit beckon, “Follow Me.”
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd (John 10:16).
Walk It Out Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21).
Ask the Father to saturate you in His love. Pray for revelation of His all-encompassing and lavish love. Pray for boldness to bravely release it in the earth.
