100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 32
You Are Saved (Romans 10:9)
Imagine the scene: a violent earthquake shakes the foundations of the prison in the middle of the night. Evangelists Paul and Silas suddenly become free of the shackles that bound them, and the jailor calls out in the darkness for torches to be lit. Assuming all prisoners are on the run, the jail official fears for his life. Their escape equates to his execution.
“But Paul shouted, ‘Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!'” (Acts 16:28)
Amazingly, the man discovers that he has cause to live and not take his own life. But the jailor wants more; he desperately seeks the same measure of life that his prisoners enjoy. He asks Paul and Silas, “What must I do to be saved?”
“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved- you and your household'” (Acts 16:31).
Life began anew for the jailor and his family the night the earthquake occurred, and life began anew the day you professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I’ve had the great honor of leading individuals in prayer to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit led them to the revelation of who Jesus is, and He readied their hearts to receive Him; I merely was the one in place to first welcome them into the family of God! What a blessing!
I notice that when we come to Christ, we experience an earthquake of our own. The foundation upon which we built our lives crumbles beneath us, and we realize that unless we place our lives upon the grace of God, we will surely be swallowed up. But praise Jesus that sin and subsequent death falls away and loses all impact the moment we confess His powerful Name! Jesus died for the sins of man, and God raised Him from the dead. He is alive and is now seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven! Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life! Have you confessed faith in Him? Then, Child of God, you are saved!
When the earthquake struck your heart, you came in brokenness and humbly confessed that you believe in Jesus to be your Savior. You entered into life just as the jailor did. Prison cells no longer bound you, because you became free. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36).
“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 19:8-9).
Walk It Out Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21).
Share with someone today the awesome, sin and death-conquering news that Jesus is alive, and you have placed your faith in Him! You are a partaker in eternal life and the work of God within you demands that you testify!
