100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 34
You Are Gifted by God (Romans 12:6)
Yes, YOU, gifted in a specific way and fitted perfectly in the body of Christ, represent the glorious and unlimited nature of God! You have read in the 100-Day Identity Makeover that you are endued with power (See Day 15), and that, you, as a member of the body of Christ, bear a gift that makes whole the expression of God’s wisdom (See Day 33). Yesterday’s Walk It Out concluded the post with a challenge to employ your spiritual gift.
You’ve identified the spiritual gift of God entrusted to you, and you now understand why each believer has one or more gifts, but you may be wondering how you should operate in it.
God desires that you use spiritual gifts freely and in love (See 1 Corinthians 13). So whether you are in a welcoming environment, or you’re in a less comfortable place, allow God to minister through you.
“Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).
You will experience growth in ministering the spiritual gift of God in you. It may take some testing it out, and that’s okay. Do not be discouraged if you don’t always act on what you know you should do or if you sense you didn’t hit the mark. You will always be growing in the gift and even developing others! And, truly, God does so much more in the unseen places when you yield to His Spirit… what you may view as disastrous could actually be the very set-up God allowed to work powerfully in the life of another! For this reason, I believe heaven holds some eye-opening accounts for you and all of God’s children!
If you haven’t yet read the account of Joseph in the Bible, or if it has been a while, I want you to take some time to study his life as recorded in the sacred script. He serves as an example of how to freely operate in God’s gift, regardless of the environment.
Genesis 37 puts the spotlight on Joseph at the age of seventeen. Imagine the scene as he described to his older brothers the dream he had in which they all bowed down to him. Joseph probably understood that the dream indicated a future reality, but he should have kept the matter to himself. His brothers already seethed with jealously over his position of favor in their father’s eyes. The prospect of the dream angered them even more, and they plotted to kill their young brother.
Joseph was instead sold into slavery by his brothers and taken to Egypt. Everywhere he served he prospered because God was with him. Even as a slave, Joseph employed the gift of wisdom, granting revelation to those whose dreams brought much consternation. The wisdom of God that Joseph operated in not only provided Pharaoh understanding of his dream, but it also gave Joseph insight on how to prepare Egypt for the coming famine that the dream foretold!
Child of God, regardless of your current season of life, know that God has positioned you purposefully to walk out your unique giftedness. The time to employ your spiritual gift is now.
Walk It Out Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21).
Read Genesis 37 – 50 and reflect on the gift(s) of God that Joseph manifested.
