100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 44
You Are a New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
There is a record of all our wrongs stored away in someone’s archives, but you won’t find it in heaven. Remember that God says He forgives your sins and remembers them no more (See Isaiah 43:25). You are justified by the blood of Jesus (See Day 18).
The one who keeps record of all your sins is the enemy. His name is the accuser of the brethren. He maliciously reminds you of your past and wants you to believe that you have no hope for change. And it all begins with one deliberately planted thought in your mind.
Child of God, you are not who you used to be. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17)! Meditate on the truth, because this is your best defense when the enemy tries to take you captive to condemnation. You simply say, “Even though I did those things, I am not defined by my past. I am a new creation in Jesus Christ; the old has gone, and the new has come.”
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
Because Jesus secured victory through His death and resurrection, you are secure in Him, and victory is yours. No accusation of the enemy takes root in your heart so long as you don’t agree with it! Fight the good fight of faith and always lean on the grace of God by believing your are forgiven, free, and empowered to lead others to the same hope available to all through Jesus.
Walk It Out Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21)
Be prepared to stand firm when tempted to believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection were not sufficient in redeeming you. Tell the enemy you are a new creation because you believe in the finished work of Christ.
