100-Day Identity Makeover: Day 47
You Are Known by God (Galatians 4:9)
“But now that you know God- or rather are known by God…” (Galatians 4:9). That’s what this life with Jesus the Lord and Savior is all about- relationship. It involves knowing and trusting in the God who loves you and gave His Son for you. Notice that relationship is nothing like religion…
Religion involves an introduction to God and perhaps a healthy respect for His holiness, but the daily romance of seeking to uncover more of the wonder of His glory is absent. It’s merely a remembrance of that time you were introduced and some adopted practices that aid in the association with Him. Watch out for religion! It disguises itself as something to be embraced, but its offer is death. Why? Religion is man-centered; it eradicates one’s need for God. Religion measures man’s ability to adhere to certain stipulations, as though lifeless words and deeds could produce something of lasting value. They can’t. Formulated behavior may satisfy the conscience temporarily, but God’s heart is not in it.
“These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men” (Mark 7:6-7).
Their hearts are far from Me…
Child of God, you are known by God. The Bible states that He knew you before He formed you in the womb (See Jeremiah 1:5). His plans for your life are good, and He has known them from the beginning. He sees the whole of your life and, again, declares, “It is good.” The Father in heaven knows your full potential because He sees the reality of Christ’s Spirit within you. Therefore, the possibilities are endless!
Because God knows you, understand that He delights in you! He takes great pleasure in your finding such depth of pleasure in Him. He stoops down to celebrate life’s victories with you, much like an adult stoops down with outstretched arms, cheering on a toddler’s first five steps. Because you are known by God, even your sorrows are precious to Him and He keeps track of your tears (See Psalm 56:8).
You can walk into a huge stadium at maximum capacity and think that no one there knows you, but even still, you are not alone nor forgotten. You are known by God, and He knows exactly where you are at all times. His eye is on the sparrow, His Word says, so you can know that He is more attentive of you. “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30).
There is freedom for the one who understands that God knows everything about him, yet, still, has an unchanging love for him that cannot be tapped out. Embrace the truth that you are known by God.
Walk It Out Hear God’s Word and put it into practice (Luke 8:21).
Pray and ask the Father in heaven for someone to come into your life that has yet to discover he is known by God. Pray that through your witness, he will see the God who sees him and will embrace the truth that he is known by God.
