Love Produces Miracles

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands… (Isaiah 49:15-16a, NIV).

The faithfulness of God! He spoke the words above concerning Israel, His chosen people. But reading them assures us of His attentive love, regardless of what time we are upon the earth or where we live.

I share my story of a miracle I know firsthand because many of you encounter trials when the question arises, “Does God care about me?” In the year 1995 I was in the hospital with a blood clot. It was extensive and painful. The truth is I did very little praying during that week of lying helplessly in a hospital bed. But the faithful were praying. My church, family, and friends lifted me constantly to the throne of God in prayer. I believe the peace of God surrounded me as a result. You see, even though I heard words and saw the reality of the dire straights I was in, my mind and my heart remained at rest. I did not fear for my life; therefore, I thought it was strange to awaken one day in ICU to see my sister standing over me and crying. I heard the words of the specialist warning my husband that they would be unable to save my life if part of the clot broke loose and went into my lungs. I took in the reality that I was placed in a part of the hospital where some people die. The staff came past every patient area and shut the curtains to our personal spaces, so that they could respectfully roll the corpse of another past.

Life. God is the Author of it. He is the Protector and Restorer. I stepped out of the hospital seven days later with a renewed passion for living!

The Body of Christ. What a beautiful demonstration of the love of God and the faith that believes for miracles! How I needed the believing body in that season of trial! Today, I am in awe of the beautiful design of the Body- a gift of the Master Architect to the believer and to the world!

And now, a word about disease and sickness: the Lord has imparted a great passion within me so that others may realize His deliverance. After one day of the invasive treatment of the blood clot, my doctor reported to family that the result was miraculous. I know firsthand the power of God!

But I also want to share what I know from the Word of God.

“Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows… the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5).

“Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases…” (Psalm 103:2-3).

“That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over¬†everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way” (Ephesians 1:19-23).

When I hear a report of disease invading a person’s body or a number associated with a progressed stage, I remind myself of the above truths. All was nailed to the cross; love and power resurrected the Afflicted One, King Jesus, from the cross. He is and forever remains the Sovereign Lord, and no name or title will ever challenge His place, His power, or His love that produces purpose for God’s people.

Drink Him in. Let His love satisfy you. He is the Giver of living water. Everything that you have need of on this side of heaven has already been secured in the greatest miracle of love to ever happen!

I love You, Jesus! Thank you for the second chance of living a strong and healthy life! Thank you for the gift of eternally victorious life in You!
