Prompted by an activity question to meditate on the truth of Romans 8:37, I have come to a conclusion that drives my daily existence with fresh awareness. First, let’s look at the verse:

“… we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

I choose security as my single-word theme of the mind-blowing passage of Romans 8:28-39. The confidence we have for the whole of our lives is rooted in the love of God. God proved His love for us by sending His Son to die for the sins of mankind. We were not deserving of God’s mercy; we were simply wanted. {He’s crazy about that which He created!}

I received God’s grace- have you? It nearly seems too easy: Recognize I have no means of cleansing myself to attain righteousness {the ability to stand before holy God with a clear conscience instead of trying to hide from Him}! Then, I say yes to His gift of forgiveness of my sins, thereby receiving complete justification {a clear record}.

So, in Jesus, salvation for all eternity is secure for us who believe!

Everything else we face in this life is of lesser value; therefore, we know security concerning all things.

“He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all- how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”  (Romans 8:32)

Our identity as more than conquerors is a Jesus-based truth. Love has secured our lifestyle of victory. God’s securing love defines every element of daily living. His love redeems our past and makes a path for the future.

God’s securing love is not an addendum to your life; it is not a footnote. God’s securing love is all-defining. If your existence is based upon breathing, then His love is the air.

  • Think of one unresolved thing in your life and apply the truth of Romans 8:37 to it.
  • Make an agreement with God that His love secures all of your life’s outcomes.
